Ashlee Simpson-Wentz says yoga helped her bond with her child.

The 24-year-old star, who has a nine-month-old son, Bronx Mowgli, with husband Pete Wentz, loved doing the low-impact stretching exercises when she was pregnant as it made her feel closer to her baby.

She said: "Your body is changing, and it's such an amazing time to feel that connection. I did prenatal yoga, which was a nice way to mellow down and focus on me and Bronx. Being pregnant was the healthiest I've ever been in my life. Except for the cupcakes!"

Zaida Baby and Blue Skies Yoga

I have had the pleasure of getting to know Janine Keller, owner of Blue Skies Yoga over the past few months. She invited me into her prenatal yoga class where I sat amongst her "goddess's" and enjoyed the relaxation these mom-to-be's had come to experience. This was my first introduction to yoga, and I have to say that I certainly enjoyed it. The class finished with a palm full of cream to massage onto my belly and then a group reading from "My First Keepsake". When Janine asked me to do a book reading with her class I was thrilled. It was a great opportunity to talk to these mothers about the power of prenatal bonding and to share my "baby" with them. I have already been back once to talk to a new prenatal class, and I look forward to classes to come!

This is for all the mothers who fear breastfeeding their baby publicly..."think of it not as your right to breastfeed, but as your baby's right to eat". This statement was made today at the Region of Waterloo's Public Health 'Baby-Friendly Initiative Forum' on Breastfeeding in our Community. And doesn't that just say it all? Among today's speakers was Barbara Hall, of Ontario's Human Rights Commission. I listened intently as she spoke about the rights of pregnant woman and really felt saddened to learn that there are pregnant woman who are being discriminated against for breastfeeding in public. In Ontario, woman are legally protected from harassment and discrimination because of their gender....and this protection includes pregnancy and breastfeeding. As I begin to wrap up 2007, I look back with appreciation for a successful year. Business was great and the arrival of 'Zaida Baby - My First Keepsake' is a dream come true. Thank you to everyone who supported me throughout the year...clients, friends and family...I couldn't have done it without you.

Things are changing.....I have decided that after I fulfill my commitments with my existing clients (I am booked into the New Year; thank you) I will be putting my photography on hold for a few months. So exciting...I just received a call from the owner of 'Open Sundaes', Mashiah Vaughn, all the way from Vancouver. I met her last summer while window shopping downtown. Her store is so brightly coloured and so sweet to resist I had to go in! Her cherry pout lip gloss is my fav!

The All Natural Pregnancy Guide

Whether you've just confirmed your new arrival with a stick flashing double pink lines or just have baby on the brain, there are a myriad of things to consider at all stages of pregnancy. Here are some tips to make sure that you are prepared along the way.

Before:
Flushing toxins. Eating the right foods is absolutely essential, but why not take it one step further and flush out your liver with a detox? 3 to 6 months is ideal, but if you have a habit of eating not so healthy foods, you may want to start earlier. More information is available to you at your local Health Food Store.

During:
Supplements: For some people eating a healthy diet with lots of greens, legumes, protein and nuts are enough. For others it is important to take supplements. In fact, women who do not get the recommended 1,000 to 1,500 mg of calcium a day can run the risk of having the baby take it from their bones. Find a multivitamin that not only has folic acid and B12, but one that has iron, zinc, and vitamins A and E as well. Hypoallergenic and/or gluten free supplements are available if you have a sensitivity or allergies to consider. Again, check with your local Health Food Store for more info.

After:
Breastfeeding. A child's immune system is not properly formed until the age of 5. By breastfeeding your baby you are protecting your child...breast milk not only has the exact portion of fat and carbs that a baby needs to thrive, but also has antibodies that help against viruses, meaning fewer colds, fewer cavities and it can even prevent diaper rash. Breastfeeding is unfortunately not an option for everyone...so if you are reading this and thinking, but...I can't...not to worry, there are formulas out there that you can rely on, just do some research first.
