What I've learned as a momma...

Where do I begin?  What a journey the past 15 weeks have been.  My patience has been tested, my relationship...my sanity too.  But I wouldn't trade any of it for the insane love that I have for my daughter, Reese.  Welcoming a new being into my family...starting a family, really, is the hardest thing I have ever done.

My partner and I laughed about this a couple of months back now - that life was SO easy before.  And it was.  But as I sit here today (with a baby girl who is sleeping), I reflect on where we are right now and what we have accomplished.  It's so incredible to be a parent and yet so overwhelming at the same time.  I have learned what it means to have absolute patience, how phenomenal it feels to get 4 solid hours of sleep, and why good comfortable footwear beats the fashion trend any day.  I've learned that I strongly believe in homeopathy, but that if and when needed I will compromise and use Tylenol.  I've learned that having a naturopathic doctor is important to me and that vitamins and probiotics should be used for optimal health.  I've learned that daily walks in the forest with my dog and my daughter are not only good for my soul, but there's as well.  I've learned that everyone wants to give you their opinion, out of love, but that you don't have to take it just because...I always consider, and make a decision based on what's best for my family.  I've learned that if my daughter is not feeling well, that I need to respect that first.  I've learned that I have absolute trust in my partner to care for our daughter when I'm not at home.  And I've learned that life is about trial and error and that just when you think you have things figured out, they change.
